Project overview

Business context

BrownJr Enterprises required more than a conventional marketing website. The company needed a digital operating platform capable of presenting its services clearly, demonstrating the experience behind the business, organizing project evidence, supporting multiple visitor journeys, and eventually connecting client-facing activity to internal business-development and operational systems.

The project therefore began as a broader business architecture initiative rather than a simple website build. Every page, content hierarchy, project pathway, internal link, service description, case-study structure, and user journey has been designed to support a specific business purpose.

Business objective

Create a unified digital platform that serves as the public-facing foundation of BrownJr Enterprises while also preparing the company for a more integrated operating model across business development, client intake, project information, internal data, reporting, and automation.

Ownership

Designed and built internally

Every aspect of this website has been developed and customized internally by Broadus Brown Jr. The project includes far more than selecting a template or adding company copy. The site architecture, content strategy, page hierarchy, visual direction, service structure, project organization, portfolio logic, case-study framework, navigation, internal linking, and audience routing have all been intentionally designed around the business model and long-term operating vision of BrownJr Enterprises.

Direct ownership includes

  • Defining the overall website strategy and business objectives.
  • Structuring the site architecture and page hierarchy.
  • Designing the distinction between BrownJr Enterprises as a company and Broadus Brown Jr. as an individual professional.
  • Developing service categories and organizing capabilities into a clear consulting structure.
  • Writing and refining company, founder, service, portfolio, and case-study content.
  • Designing project-page standards and consistent case-study layouts.
  • Creating user journeys for consulting clients, founders, corporate stakeholders, hiring organizations, and professional opportunities.
  • Customizing page layouts, visual hierarchy, typography, spacing, links, calls to action, and embedded code.
  • Building internal links between services, company work, founder experience, project case studies, and contact pathways.
  • Planning the future connection between the website, client intake, internal databases, business-development records, and client lifecycle workflows.

The website itself therefore functions as both a brand platform and a working demonstration of BrownJr Enterprises' capabilities in business analysis, information architecture, process design, systems thinking, content organization, and digital operations.

Responsibility

BrownJr Enterprises role

BrownJr Enterprises owns the complete business and operating design of the digital platform. The project combines strategy, user experience, information architecture, content development, project organization, workflow planning, and implementation into one connected initiative.

Scope

  • Business requirements and platform objectives.
  • Website information architecture and navigation logic.
  • Brand positioning and messaging hierarchy.
  • Service architecture and capability organization.
  • Founder and company experience pathways.
  • Portfolio and case-study architecture.
  • Project-page standards and internal linking.
  • Contact and business-development routing.
  • Future intake and database integration planning.
  • Custom page styling and code-level layout refinement where required.

Stakeholders and audiences

The platform is designed to support multiple audiences without forcing them through the same path. These include prospective consulting clients, founders, startups, corporate teams, hiring organizations, collaborators, professional partners, and visitors evaluating the experience behind BrownJr Enterprises.

Audience design

Multiple user journeys, one platform

A central challenge was designing one website that could support two related but distinct credibility paths: the company itself and the individual professional experience of its founder.

Company pathway

Visitors evaluating BrownJr Enterprises as a consulting or contract partner are directed toward company services, direct company projects, internal systems, project case studies, and project-contact pathways.

Founder pathway

Visitors interested in Broadus Brown Jr. as an individual professional can move directly into his professional background, accomplishments, employment-based case studies, experience, and individual portfolio.

Why the separation matters

The structure protects credibility by clearly distinguishing direct BrownJr Enterprises work from professional experience gained through other organizations, while still demonstrating how that experience informs the company's capabilities.

Definition

Platform requirements

The platform was designed around business and operational requirements rather than visual presentation alone.

  • Create a clear distinction between company capabilities and founder experience.
  • Allow visitors to navigate based on intent instead of following one fixed website journey.
  • Present services using clear business terminology and defined capability areas.
  • Provide detailed project evidence through consistent case-study architecture.
  • Connect company claims to actual project work and demonstrable systems.
  • Create clear pathways from services to projects and from projects to contact.
  • Support future integration with business-development intake and internal data systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality by allowing detailed project storytelling without exposing restricted information.
  • Create a modular site structure that can expand as new BrownJr Enterprises engagements are added.
  • Maintain a visual identity that feels professional, human, modern, and credible without simulating the scale of a large corporation.
Delivery

Approach

The website has been developed as a connected business system, beginning with audience intent and business requirements before moving into layout, content, visual design, and technical implementation.

Design principle

Every page is expected to perform a business function. The homepage introduces the company, the services page defines capabilities, the company About page explains the operating model, the founder About page establishes professional credibility, the portfolio provides evidence, the case studies demonstrate depth, and the contact pathways move qualified visitors toward the appropriate next step.

Solution

System or solution design

The platform is structured as a network of connected business pages rather than a collection of isolated website sections. Each major page has a defined role within the broader client-acquisition and credibility model.

Core architecture

  • Homepage: establishes what BrownJr Enterprises does and directs visitors toward the appropriate next step.
  • Services: provides detailed capability definitions and explains the range of work BrownJr Enterprises can support.
  • About BrownJr Enterprises: explains the company, operating model, internal systems, direct company projects, and strategic direction.
  • About Broadus Brown Jr.: presents the founder's individual accomplishments, professional experience, education, and professional identity.
  • Selected Work: provides a structured professional portfolio with project evidence and links to case studies.
  • Case Studies: explain the business context, responsibilities, systems, challenges, approach, and outcomes behind individual projects.
  • Contact: provides a clear transition from exploration to business discussion.

Implementation

The platform is being assembled iteratively in Squarespace with custom content, custom structure, custom styling, embedded code, and continuous refinement. Each major page is reviewed independently and then connected into the wider information architecture to ensure the overall experience remains coherent.

Technology

Squarespace is currently used as the delivery environment. Custom code is incorporated where the standard platform structure does not provide the level of control required for case-study presentation, visual hierarchy, page layout, or project navigation. Additional business-development, database, automation, and reporting systems are being developed as connected components of the broader BrownJr Enterprises operating environment.

Content architecture

Case studies as business evidence

A major component of the platform is the development of a consistent case-study system. Rather than relying on broad claims about capability, BrownJr Enterprises uses project pages to explain what was actually done, why the work mattered, how the project was structured, what systems were used, what constraints existed, and what capabilities were demonstrated.

Standard case-study structure

Each project is organized around a common framework that can include business context, objective, role, scope, stakeholders, requirements, approach, operating model, system design, implementation, tools, challenges, status, outcome, next phase, and capabilities demonstrated.

This creates consistency across the portfolio while still allowing each project to focus on the details that make that engagement unique.

Business value

Digital infrastructure, not just a website

The long-term purpose of the platform is to become the public entry point into a more connected BrownJr Enterprises operating environment. The website is designed to eventually work alongside the company's intake application, internal databases, opportunity records, project information, reporting systems, and client-experience workflows.

Target business value

  • Improve how prospective clients understand BrownJr Enterprises before contact.
  • Reduce ambiguity around services and capabilities.
  • Create stronger evidence of project experience and execution ability.
  • Separate professional experience from direct company work without disconnecting them.
  • Provide structured pathways for different visitor types.
  • Support more consistent lead qualification and business-development processes.
  • Create a foundation for connected client and project data.
  • Reduce future administrative duplication through better system integration.
  • Allow the company to scale its information architecture as new projects, services, and clients are added.
Reality of the work

Challenges / constraints

The project requires balancing company positioning, founder credibility, business-development goals, confidentiality, user experience, design consistency, and future system integration within one coherent platform.

Key constraints

  • Presenting professional credibility without overstating the current scale of BrownJr Enterprises.
  • Distinguishing direct company work from employment-based professional experience.
  • Providing enough project detail to demonstrate capability while protecting confidential information.
  • Creating consistency across pages that serve different audiences and purposes.
  • Designing for current business needs while leaving room for future automation and system integration.
  • Maintaining a professional visual standard without relying on generic corporate imagery or artificial scale.

Current status

In development. Core pages, case-study frameworks, company pathways, founder pathways, and project structures are being built and refined in draft before public release.

Value

Outcome

The project has established a comprehensive digital structure for BrownJr Enterprises that connects company positioning, founder credibility, services, project evidence, business-development pathways, and future operating systems within one platform.

More importantly, the work demonstrates BrownJr Enterprises' ability to move from an undefined business need into a structured operating solution: identifying audiences, defining requirements, organizing information, designing workflows, building the user experience, implementing the system, and continuously refining it.

Capabilities demonstrated

Business analysis, information architecture, digital operations, content architecture, user-journey design, business-development strategy, project management, systems thinking, process design, workflow planning, custom website development, case-study architecture, implementation, and continuous improvement.

Next phase

The next stage is to deepen the systems connected to the platform. Three linked initiatives extend the website into a broader business operating environment: the Business Development Intake Application, the Connected Business Database Architecture, and the Client Experience and Automation Architecture.
